Case study - PVL UK

PVL had entered a period of rapid growth and was seeking to improve its business processes across the board, particularly in the supply of crashed emergency vehicle replacement markings.

Background

PVL had entered a period of rapid growth and was seeking to improve its business processes across the board, particularly in the supply of crashed emergency vehicle replacement markings. Identifying areas where the biggest improvements could be gained in the shortest time was key. PVL management identified that Vazon Technology’s Manufacturing and Business Process knowledge would enable quick progress to be made. A Projects Team was established from key staff and quickly engaged with Vazon Technology to set about making the technical changes that would drive the project to completion.

Main objective

The goal was to produce a hands-free mechanism of ordering PVL's product via a web portal - and have the order delivered straight to the production work-cell, minimising human intervention from order to shipment.

Client requirements

Assist in specifying and then project managing delivery of this transformative solution.

Challenges

Re-structuring the product such that customers could self-select the product that they wished to buy.

Integrating their ERP and web technologies around a newly defined end-to-end process.

Overcoming these challenges

Facilitating and coordinating PVL's internal Team, keeping a laser focus on the end goal.

Regular monitoring of the project progress and reporting to senior management.

Project solution

We started on a specific PVL product range to prove the concept.

Built the product structures in ERP and in the new web portal.

Defined the web ordering process.

Configured the production machine to accept orders directly from the web portal.

What PVL thought

PVL Managing Director, Craig Beresford, stated that the work completed with Roger at Vazon has fundamentally changed the way we operate and now informs our working practices in other product lines in the business. We continue to work with Vazon today, as part of our digital transformation programme.
